Sitting upon the rocks in the sea, I’ve been observing, with some terror, the crabs all around me — unbossed and unimpressed by crashing waves and peeping homosexuals. Crabs are deeply unnerving to observe: primordial, dogged and bound to outlast us for eons to come.
In the zodiac, Cancer affirms love as a means of survival, of transmuting a heritage, a story, or a belief which can outlive the fall of the monoliths. Last year, I wrote about the archetypal Cancerian women, including ‘Lil Kim, M.I.A., Missy Elliot, Roisin Murphy, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and (my president) Marianne Williamson. I also just published an interview with the Cancer Alok for my beloved Texas LGBT magazine, Outsmart (they hired me when I was 17!). If you’re looking to further explore Cancer, check out this explainer on the crab’s ruling planet, the moon, and how it functions in your chart.
And hit up your July horoscopes! As always, remember to read for your rising sign, if possible. There are no coincidences in astrology or fate; this is the season to consolidate strength for the battles ahead. Let the archdivas of Cancer season lead you forward…
Now, to zoom out. My beloved editor at NYLON has encouraged me to think big, and I’ve never been prouder of my work than with these two pieces: The first examines the planet Uranus, and how its stay in Taurus impacts Heard v. Depp, Roe v. Wade, Putin v. Ukraine and far, far beyond. If you feel like the world is crumbling before your very eyes, this may give you some insight.
Then, I go into the future, and consider the world our alien and machine overlords will find when Pluto moves through Aquarius from 2023–2044. Viva la Y3K!
Richard Tarnas’s Cosmos & Psyche changed my life, and taught me how to employ cosmic archetypes to make sense of the world around me. This form of synthesis helps me feel less helpless as the news gets bleaker and bleaker.
I hope you’ll enjoy my latest podcast episode, “Generations in Astrology,” featuring the great Jessica Lanyadoo. I also got to talk about my Britney Spears essay on one of my favorite shows, Cracks in Postmodernity. If my take on Ariana offends you…thanks for listening!
The books are WIDE OPEN for astrology and tarot readings in July. I want to channel with YOU. Book a reading here (at the new summer rate) and get some insight into your fate and vocation.
ALL WILL BE WELL-
