The uncertainty, ambivalence and blindness I feel in this moment — as Uranus retrogrades over my sun and all these fucking planets go in backward motion — is pure agony. For all the blessings and rebirths to come in 2023, I feel so shut out, so exiled from Eden to have become ungrateful and out of touch. I believe that this year will be wild, joyous and bigger than life. I am hanging on to fate, faith, the stars, and (ore than anything else) my friends, for something to grip until the mist clears.
And clear it will. 2023 is the year of paradigm shifts, quantum reboots and awakenings, the outright start of the 2020s, the moment we ditched the stale malaise of the past half-decade and built something new. I liken 2023 to Buffy season five, when the show’s style completely shifted from ’90s teen to 2000s woman. I have written about 2023’s Best Astrology, and have more insight to share (below).
But to understand how these changes play out for you, may I recommend an astrology reading? I offer straight-up transit readings and new planetary channeling sessions, in which I speak directly with your mythic archetypes. It’s been pretty life-changing and I’d love to try it out with you. Book a reading here and get 10% off with the code 2023 (expires January 8).
The other tea is this: beloved collaborator Ruby McCollister and I have recorded a video class on 2023’s astrology, available to download here for $15. It’s wild: we cover everything from The White Lotus to the return of BritPop. I think you’ll dig.
Now for some written goodies…
The entrance of Jupiter into Aries (and Taurus by May) launches a decade–plus creative cycle, a new Age of Heroes, in which those with points of view will rise to share them. Read your Jupiter in Aries horoscope here.
Saturn enters Pisces in March, heralding a synthesis of culture and a personal sobering up, helping us to culminate, close out and ready ourselves for new archetypes and forms of artistry. Read about Saturn in Pisces here.
The Age of Aquarius is officially upon us, as Pluto enters the water-bearer’s domain in March, launching a new century of Cyborg Feminism, post-humanism, Krakoa mutant community and collective consciousness. Brace yourself. Read about Pluto in Aquarius and the Age of Aquarius.
If, like me, you feel too subsumed, exhausted and paralyzed in anxiety to feel any of this so-called optimism, then take stock with my Mercury retrograde writeup and January horoscopes.
It ain’t over ‘til it’s over. It’s only just begun. We endure, we continue, we thrive, we party. I’m wishing you a year of hot sex, fantastical pleasure and supreme embodiment. Let’s read each other’s charts and collaborate on something spectacular.
See you on the other side,
David Odyssey
